If you have a cell tower in your yard, it’s a good idea to keep it in your back yard, especially if it’s near a power line.
And if you’re lucky, you might be able to get some relief from that tower, by blocking out your neighbours.
Cell phone towers are ubiquitous in some parts of the country.
Most have a single or dual tower, and some even have two or more.
But you can’t put a tower outside your own house, so long as it’s on a power pole or utility pole, a street, or some other non-traditional site.
That’s a pretty significant restriction.
A new rule that went into effect in the US on January 6 requires people to limit their cell phone use to about 50 metres from any tower in their yard, with an exception for the poles.
So, you know, if you have an outdoor power line in your backyard, and you have your tower out, you don’t have to use it.
It’s out of bounds.
That doesn’t mean the rules don’t apply in the cities where you live.
If you’re on a street in your neighbourhood, you may have to limit your use to a certain area.
But if you live in a suburb, you won’t have a problem, because you’re within the confines of your city.
There’s one exception to that rule.
If a residential tower is out of line with the zoning of your community, you’re not supposed to put it in front of your house, even if it is on a utility pole.
But that’s a separate case.
So, if your neighbor puts up a tower, do you have to turn it off?
There are other restrictions you should know about, such as whether you should put a “no trespassing” sign in your front yard.
You may want to consider having a fence in the yard, if there’s a fence that’s over 100 metres long.
You’re not going to want to take down the tower if your neighbour doesn’t.
There’s no such thing as a no trespassing sign, but you should keep your distance from your neighbour if you can.
If you can, consider getting a “nuisance notice,” which is a written warning that you’re going to remove the tower, unless there’s an emergency or you have no alternative.
You can get a nuisance notice if your neighbours have violated the rules, or you’ve noticed them putting up a structure.
You should call 311 if you’ve been the subject of a nuisance, or send an email to [email protected]
You can also contact the city, which has the authority to issue a nuisance ordinance.
If your neighbours want to remove a tower they’re not allowed to, that’s another issue to deal with.
In some cities, you can also call the city to ask for permission to remove it.
If the tower isn’t there, you have options.
If the building is located near a street or utility line, you could try to find an alternative.
But it may be difficult to find someone who has the space or the money to move the tower out.
That may mean you’re in the position of having to pay for the removal of the tower.
If there’s nothing you can do to help, or if you need to get a replacement tower, you’ll probably want to talk to someone who is knowledgeable about the tower and its regulations.
You might be eligible for a subsidy from your utility company.
